Formed in 2001 his band consists of: Mark Haze (lead vocals & guitar), Bjorn Faree (guitar & backing vocals), Gareth Haze (drums & backing vocals) & Brian Lee (bass & backing vocals).
His musical style draws influence from bands such as Metallica, Queen, Seether, The Beatles, Motley Crue, My Chemical Romance, The Used and many more.
Mark Haze started singing at a very young age, the first instrument he ever played was the Piano in primary school (Bellpark Primary), not long after he started teaching himself how to play guitar at home. Instruments he can play; Guitar, Piano, Drums as well as a bit of; Trumpet, Harmonica and more…
He started his first band, ‘Novus’ the day he left school and has since played for bands; ‘Liquid Sky’, ‘Electric Monkey’, ‘The Threads’, and ‘The Mob’.
Then in 2001 he started his own band, which was first named ‘Fireborne’ , shortly after they renamed themselves ‘12th Avenue’, which is the street their rehearsal studios were in, so it reminds them of where they started. Bjorn Faree and Mark Haze started the band; they’ve have had a few lineup changes since. In 2005 Mark’s brother Gareth Haze joined and in 2010 Brian Lee was welcomed to the band.
Mark has always dreamed of being a full time musician and after being the runner-up in Season 7 of Idols South Africa, that dream has finally come true. Mark and the members of his band love music and think that Rock ‘n Roll will save the world!
